Queensbury Rules

Queensbury - By Marianne Harris

Sit up and take note, this is Queensbury, the latest tour de force to emerge from the prolific Welsh rock scene.

Born in 2008 in the capital, Cardiff, Queensbury is a four man wrecking machine that’s sure to set the music world alight. Comprising of talent that has taken to the stages of Leeds, Reading and Glastonbury, there is no questioning the outfit’s pedigree.

The band’s latest offering is the double A-sided Here We Stand/Breathe; a veritable maelstrom of sludgy  groove metal and beautifully melodic vocals. Here We Stand immediately echoes the palletable tones of Down with a hint of Jon Bon Jovi’s vocal prowess – this is a track that would sit happily in the festival set list.

Breathe is an altogether different affair, the calm following the storm of Here We Stand; reminiscent of the post-grunge sound of InMe. Although a lighter affair that the previous track there’s no shortage of infectious guitar work, and distinct bass grooves.

The double a sided single is a showcase of the band’s brilliantly refreshing sound, it is apparent that Queensbury is one to keep an eye (and an ear) on!
